Metallic Markers Spectrum Noir - Top 5 Questions Answered

What are Metallic Markers?

The Spectrum Noir Metallic Markers are filled with pigment and real metal held together with a fluid binder. As they are pigment based they are opaque and work by sitting on top of the surface you are colouring and so work fantastically on dark surfaces. The metal provides the sheen that makes the ink look metallic. The ink is water-based, so can be manipulated whilst wet, but water resistant when dry. It is also acid free and archival giving a fade free result.

They have a dual-nib, one being a hard bullet nib and the other a soft brush nib making illustration and calligraphy a breeze. No squeezing or activating is required for these pens, they are ready to go.

What can you use Metallic Markers on?

Spectrum Noir Metallic Markers will work on all sorts of surfaces. Porous surfaces such as paper, card, wood etc. will hold the pigment well and when dry becomes almost permanent. You can use them on fabric, ceramics and glass for decorative purposes only as the ink will wash off with scrubbing.

The ink also sits well on plastics and metal making them ideal for a variety of uses in creating co-ordinating embellishments and colouring on acetate or vellum

If used quickly before the ink dries you can also use them on stamps to create unique metallic images, which can then be worked with water just like watercolour markers.

How do you store Metallic Markers?

It is vey important to store your Spectrum Noir Metallic Markers horizontally so that the pigment and metal do not separate and also to keep both nibs wet.
